On this Day of Atonement, Yom Hakippurim, 5764 of the Jewish Calendar, pray that our enemies will soften their hearts; that our friends will allow us to build a border like any other country; to defend ourselves like any other country; to exist, like any other country; to spend our religious holidays thanking G-d for our blessings not mourning the senseless continuation of slaughter in the name of Allah.
May those who write about us for once in their lives tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth of our suffering despite our constant willingness to live at peace with our neighbours.
I will spend tonight and tomorrow cleansing my heart and praying for the good of the world. I will pray for greater understanding and the vague, distant possibility that Israel will no longer need an army to defend herself.
The names of 18 victims have been released. Among the names you will see Jews and Arabs- Christian and Moslem because in Maxims Restaurant which is owned by an Israeli Arab, as in most of the targeted restaurants, we all live together in harmony:
