Americans for Peace Now (APN) today expressed its deepest sorrow at the passing of Senator Paul Wellstone, who has perished in a plane crash in Minnesota. APN’s mission is to enhance Israel’s security through peace and to support the Israeli Peace Now movement.
“Senator Paul Wellstone was a true friend of Israel, a champion of Middle East peace, and an exceptional human being,” said Luis Lainer, Co-Chair of Americans for Peace Now. “He represented the very best of what the American Jewish community has to offer to public service. When Senator Wellstone spoke of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, he did so with a voice of reason, compassion, and sound judgment.
“Americans for Peace Now deeply mourns the passing of Senator Wellstone and the members of his family and his staff who perished with him. We extend our heart-felt condolences to his surviving family and staff.”
